“Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of your clients.”
Sir Richard Branson
I wholeheartedly believe in this quote from Sir Richard Branson and as someone who has worked in the field of ABA for over 11 years, I can tell you that this is not how the majority of ABA companies operate. RBTs are often overworked, underpaid, and unappreciated. The behavior analytic principles that we are all taught are not implemented on staff, often leaving them feeling overlooked and unsupported in one of the most difficult professions. Morale often deteriorates as amazing RBTs who give it their all day in and day out watch as their less than stellar coworkers reap the same benefits as them, leading them to wonder why they even try at all if it isn’t going to be noticed and reinforced.
If you are tired of working for a company that resembles the one described above, reach out to us at Foundations ABA! We are just starting and there is so much room for growth and opportunity. Help me create a team atmosphere where ideas are heard and the principles of ABA are utilized on all staff. I have some great ideas on how to reduce staff turnover in the field and make the RBT position a career for those who may not plan to advance further in the field. Afterall, a content RBT who has been diligently trained and stays for the long haul is what is going to benefit the client most. I know as a BCBA I can write the best skills acquisition program and behavior intervention plan, but it doesn’t benefit anyone if the RBT cannot run them accurately and I have to train a new person every couple of weeks.
